Every Wine Tells a Story

Reading Every Wine Tells a Story Have I got a story for you! In fact, I’ve got 29 stories for you in my recently published book Every Wine Tells a Story!  As you may know if you’ve visited with me before, I am a huge advocate for wine drinkers to try different wines as often as possible so they can learn more about their palate and preferences and then be able to take their wine experiences to a higher level.  So this book (my first!!), is another way of encouraging people to do just that.

I asked my friends and colleagues in the wine industry if they would write a story about a wine that most impressed them from 2010 – it didn’t have to be the most incredible bottle they drank, nor the most expensive (although there are some of those stories as well!) but just simply an experience of a wine that remained on their mind long after the finish was gone and the bottle was empty.  And incredibly, 28 of them agreed to take part!

I am so thrilled, chuffed and flattered to have the contribution of each and every person – from erudite bloggers, passionate winemakers, assiduous retailers and skilled sommeliers to industry heavyweights Steven Spurrier, Guy Woodward, Simon Woods, Tom Cannavan, Richard Hemming and Richard Siddle  – the cast of characters (both people and wine) is excitingly varied.

Wines as great as Domaine de la Romanee-Conti 1971 and as simple as a €3 Vinsobres from the Rhone, wines from regions across the globe and of all styles: white, red, sparkling, sweet and fortified, find their place within these pages.

Also, as a bit of fun and to try to make wine relatable in a different way, I asked each expert to tell me who they thought the wine would be if it were a celebrity! Aren’t you curious to know which wines were compared to Alan Rickman, Johnny Depp, Macauley Culkin, Will Smith, Shakespeare, Charlize Theron, George Clooney, Marlon Brando, St Augustine, Nigella Lawson, Russell Brand, Christopher Walken and King Kong??!
