Burgundy produces wines that are some of the world’s most recognized, respected and revered. However they are also quite complicated and confusing for many wine lovers. This ‘Intro to Burgundy’ series will look beneath the labels and the puzzling wine terms to help every day wine lovers (like me!) to understand all we need to know about this beautiful region and it’s incredible wines.
One thing that is the same in Burgundy as it is in every wine producing region in the world, is the extreme passion of the winemakers. They know how fortunate they are to be producing wines in such a special and limited area and they strive to bring the elegance and essence of the land to their wines and to all of us.
In this first winemaker video of the series, I talk to Jean-Michel Chartron of Domaine Jean Chartron. He is the 5th generation to make his family’s wines in Puligny Montrachet. I always learn so much from visiting the vineyards and cellars and speaking with the winemakers and I wanted to bring you along with me so we can learn together. I hope you enjoy this brief chat with Jean Michel and enjoy discovering the beauties of Burgundy with me. Stay tuned for the second winemaker video coming in a few days.
There’s always time for wine.
