Recap: The Punch Down Episode 8 with Antonio Galloni

Antonio Galloni on The Punch Down

If you are a fan of wine from California, Italy, Burgundy or Champagne – you’re going to want to watch this episode!

Wine critic Antonio Galloni formerly of Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, now founder of Vinous Media, joins us and we chat about everything from the 2013 harvest in Napa (his report will be out soon), the new classification of ‘Gran Selezione’ in Chianti Classico (what is it? does it make sense?), the exciting trends happening with Grower Champagnes (hint: they are deconstructing Champagne as we know it) and lots more – this one is crammed with great, geeky wine info! He’s a natural-born educator and I found it a pleasure to hear his intelligent, thoughtful, helpful and interesting responses – I hope you do too.

And if you’re wondering if we ask Antonio about his spat with Robert Parker earlier this year and that pesky law suit…well, we wouldn’t be called The Punch Down if we didn’t!

And for a bit of fun, my wine for the show is from Idaho! It was a first for me and I was pleased with the fruitiness and structure of the 2011 Syrah from Clearwater Canyon Cellars!

Grab a glass of something delicious, put your feet up and settle in…
